We recently asked alumnus Ken, originally from the U.K., to tell us what he has been doing since leaving the program, and what some of his fondest memories were from his time teaching in the United States. Read below for Ken’s responses!
Q: What grade level did you teach?
A: I taught fourth grade for two years, from 2000 to 2002.
Q: What school(s) did you teach at?
A: I spent both years teaching at Pilot Elementary School in Guilford County, North Carolina.
Q: What inspired you to apply to teach in the U.S.?
A: The thing that inspired me most about the opportunity to teach in the U.S. was the sense of adventure it presented!
Q: What did you enjoy most about your time teaching in the U.S.?
A: Everything! It was an amazing learning and teaching experience.
Q: Where are you now? Are you living in your home country, another country, or did you go somewhere else?
A: I am currently the Primary Principal at the British International School Phuket, located in Phuket, Thailand. After leaving North Carolina in 2002, I have worked in several school leadership positions in Syria, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Turkey before moving here to Thailand.
Q: Do you have any other life updates that you would like to share with us and the Participate Learning network?
A: I am married with two daughters! We are all enjoying life in Thailand.
